The mechanisms page is a catalogue. This is the shape. Each volume answers the question the last one could not close. The fifth is a twist the first four did not contain.

Here is an organism, fully derived

If the folklore is a dataset, what organ would produce exactly those observations?

Book 1 treats the vampire traditions as a distributed observational database and builds a three-genome chimera: rewritten host, integrated lentivirus, nematode colony in the canal. An iron-dependent bio-voltaic drive. A sublingual proboscis. Silver as a 1.24-volt short. Sunlight as porphyrin combustion. The fangs are accessory. The drive is the claim.

The volume enumerates the experiments that would destroy it. The investigation remains open because those experiments have not been run — not because the argument is a mood.

If that reconstruction holds, the next question is whether the other great invariant — the full moon, the inherited shift, silver again — is the same organism wearing a different story.

Here is a second, unrelated organism, fully derived

The moon, not any bright night. What photoreceptor fires at opposition surge?

Book 2 reconstructs a different biology. An endogenous retrovirus approximately eight hundred thousand years old. An LR-1 receptor variant on intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells. A hydraulic engine under mass-conservation law: crouched hyper-muscular biped, not a quadrupedal canid. Silver again — cytochrome c oxidase this time, amplified by mitochondrial density the first organism does not need.

Two architectures. Two retroviruses. Two delivery routes. The same metal.

If two populations this specific have been sharing a surface with baseline humanity, someone learned to identify them. What did the knowing do to the knowers?

Who kept the kit, and what did proximity write on them?

Book 3 is the operational history. The hunter traditions were not superstition. They were an archive of accumulated empirical knowledge that went quiet after the Habsburg administrative closure of 1755. Allicin, silver, running water, hawthorn, wolfsbane: form specified. The kindjal's silver sits in the blood-channel, not on the flat. A brother-armourer in 1308 could not say why.

Sustained proximity produced a third population: Vigilans. Stress inoculation. NR3C1 methylation. Hunter families produce hunter children. The three-body equilibrium has held so far because none of the three can afford to win.

One metal kills both non-baseline populations. Coincidence is the hypothesis that has to do the most work.

OVERLORD

One metal. Coincidence is below one in ten million. They are kin.

If the reagent is the same, what does that make the two genomes?

Book 4 is not a theoretical biology. It is a threat assessment in force. 1947: first dual-signature specimen recovered in the Black Forest. Five catalogued Type-V recoveries. The Committee's biochemists treat the silver convergence as the most consequential finding in the project. The only hypothesis that does not require a coincidence their statisticians put at less than one in ten million is relatedness: HHDRV and LERV as kin.

The metal is the reagent. What it reveals is a family. Everything after 1947 is a management problem. The Shepherd–Elder Accords are a scheduling of predation, not a peace. The margin is narrowing.

The previous four volumes described a three-body problem. They were incomplete.

AETERNA

Someone manufactured a fourth population. The other three are being managed.

A number that refused to balance. What was absorbing the return?

Book 5 begins with a seismic waveform that does not come back. Zero endogenous retroviruses. Zero telomere degradation. Zero drift. A clean genome is diagnostic of manufacture, not of evolution. Geothermal civilisation. An Ignore Protocol still in force. The compiler of that volume arrived independently, is designated, lists no institutional affiliation, and is not available for correspondence following submission.

The surface three-body problem sits on a substrate. The other three are being metered. The convergences that the prior compilers reached, and the convergences this compiler reached, are independent. The convergences agree.

The investigation continues. The last empirical step has not been taken.
