PROJECT AETERNA
A Forensic Assessment of Homo faber subterraneus
Homo faber subterraneus
This page is a covering note for the printed book. It is not the novel. If you have never opened the series, start with the paragraphs below.
This is Book 5, and the last. The previous four volumes described a three-body problem on the surface of the Earth. They were incomplete.
Beneath that surface is a manufactured population the folklore almost never named: Homo faber subterraneus. A clean genome. A geothermal civilisation. An Ignore Protocol that is still in force. The Soviet facility at Yamantau held one of them, designated 14-Alpha. What was recovered from the cell is in the artefact catalogue on this desk. The compiler arrived independently, from Novosibirsk, and is not available for amendment requests.
Read it last. It converts the series from three populations to four. The printed volume is the forensic assessment. This page is the covering note — and a controlled exception to the Protocol it describes.
New to the series? Four steps for a first reader. The printed volumes remain the full texts.
The claim
The previous four volumes described a three-body problem. They were incomplete. Beneath the managed surface is a manufactured subterranean population whose clean genome, geothermal civilisation, and Ignore Protocol never entered the folklore. This document is a controlled exception.
Dedication, as printed
For the number that refused to balance. And for the colleague who showed the compiler the page.
Who is speaking
Compiler C is a geophysicist in the document, arrived independently, and is not a correspondent. The author of record is Z. Reynolds.
A page from the printed volume, so you can hear the register before you buy the book.
This document began with a number that refused to balance. In 1991, the compiler submitted a doctoral dissertation on acoustic propagation anomalies in the deep basement complex of the Southern Urals — specifically, a class of seismic waveform return designated Class-IV Cancellation Events: locations at depth where outgoing acoustic energy simply did not come back. Not attenuated. Not scattered. Absent. As though the energy had been absorbed by something that did not reflect, did not resonate, and did not exist on any geological survey map the compiler had been given access to. The third hypothesis was correct. The compiler did not know this at the time.
The blood assay designated YML-001-BA is a standard Soviet military haematological panel, Form GRU-MED-7. Forty-two indexed parameters. In a baseline human subject the third column would contain forty-two numerical entries. In the specimen designated Subject-14-Alpha, the third column contains seven. The remaining thirty-five fields contain zeroes or the notation N/D — not detected. Core body temperature: 40.2 °C. Haemoglobin: 22.4 g/dL. White cells: undetectable. Serum iron: 847 μg/dL — the attending pathologist wrote the value in the margin because it exceeded the printed field width. Blood pH: 6.91. The compiler has reviewed this data set seventeen times over eleven years. The result has not changed.
Science pillars
Zero endogenous retroviruses. Zero telomere degradation. Zero genetic drift. Diagnostic of manufacture, not of evolution. Engineering-class regardless of mechanism.
No limbic threat-amplification. No oxytocin pathway. No amygdala fear-response. The Soviet interrogation of Subject-14-Alpha failed for a reason the interrogators could not name.
Active acoustic and electromagnetic cancellation concealing forty-three confirmed null zones. Powered by geothermal siphons tapping the upper mantle.
A persistent two-percent deficit in global rare-earth production. Independently converged upon by three analytical traditions. The surface is being metered.
Younger Dryas precedent. Evidence of a second withdrawal in preparation. Stockpiling at plus four hundred percent.
The compiler's thirty-four years of unimpeded investigation may not have been luck. Chapter 42 does not resolve this. The compiler notes that the volume's acceptance for distribution may be related.
