The method
These are not conventional novels. They are speculative theoretical biology, written as if they were declassified dossiers: clinical in tone, complete in the apparatus, and still open in their conclusions.
The conventional explanation for the universality of monster folklore is comfortable. Independent cultures invented the same creature from shared psychological raw material. It predicts nothing. It cannot account for the specificity of silver, the four-hour garlic window, or a photoreceptor that fires only at the full moon.
The compilers treat the folklore as a distributed observational database. Individual reports are noisy. Aggregated across sufficient geographic and temporal diversity, a biological signal emerges. The method has precedent in the epidemiological reading of historical disease records. The RNA World hypothesis describes a stage of early Earth biochemistry for which no direct physical evidence survives, yet it is considered a legitimate scientific framework because it is internally consistent, externally plausible, and generates testable predictions. The Theory Series operates on identical principles.
No science in it is invented. Every named gene, locus, constant, enzyme and mechanism is a real documented one, used correctly. The creativity is only in the combination. Electrogenesis, neural parasitism, lentiviral integration, porphyrin photochemistry, the galvanic electrochemistry of silver: all confirmed. What is novel is the assembly. The measure of success is not whether the conclusions are literally true. That question is for empirical investigation. The measure is whether they are logically coherent, biologically consistent, and capable of explaining the mythological data better than any alternative.
The five volumes were checked internally and against each other. Every figure stated in more than one volume reconciles. The coined terminology is uniform. Roughly 145 cross-volume chapter references were verified by reading the target chapter.

Treat folklore as a dataset
Individual reports are noisy and culturally inflected. Gather enough of them, across enough geography and enough time, and a biological signal starts to show through the cultural variation. The method was developed in the epidemiological reading of historical disease records. Here it is applied to the vampire, werewolf, hunter, and dwarf traditions as if they were distributed observational databases.

Build backwards from the constraint
Start from the folkloric invariant that imagination cannot explain — silver, not iron; the full moon, not any bright night; the bite that is never enough — and ask what mechanism would produce exactly that observation. No physical law is invented. The novelty is the assembly.

Metagenomics, medical-demographic pattern analysis, a partial specimen, and computational reconstruction. No single channel would have been enough. The compilers did not design the convergence; they found it.
