The Theory Series

Five declassified theoretical-biology investigations into the organisms the folklore never fully described

Not metaphor. Mechanism.

Speculative biology in dossier form. Not paranormal romance. Not a thriller that treats lore as atmosphere.

Series argument

The oldest stories were field reports

Each volume reconstructs a non-baseline human biology whose existence has been sustained by folklore across recorded history. The method is clinical. The register is forensic. The central claim is that the oldest stories were never metaphors. They were degraded field reports, and the underlying mechanisms can still be derived.

Volume I develops the complete theoretical biology of the haemophagic phenotype: a three-genome chimera driven by an iron-dependent bio-voltaic metabolism. Volume II reconstructs the lycanthropic condition as an endogenous retroviral inheritance triggered by a photobiological key and executed by a hydraulic transformation engine. Volume III traces the operational history of the human populations that learned to identify and contain both phenotypes. Volume IV is the joint threat assessment of the shadow war that has been running since 1947. Volume V documents the subterranean population whose clean genome and geothermal civilisation were never part of the surface myths, and whose existence converts the previous framework from a three-body problem into a four-body problem.

The volumes are independent. The cumulative reading clarifies the argument. © 2026 Z. Reynolds, All rights reserved.

Compiler's position
The Theory Series is speculative theoretical biology presented as declassified investigative documents. It treats folklore as degraded field data and reconstructs the underlying biologies with clinical precision. Five volumes. One escalating argument. Written for readers who want the mechanisms to be real enough to think with.

Vampires in Theory
This document does not know exactly when the first vampire was made. It does not know where. It does not know the precise circumstances, the name of the individual, the year, or the specific field of dead and dying men in which the conditions for transformation were first accidentally met. The honest scientific position, after exhaustive theoretical analysis, is this: we cannot pinpoint the origin with certainty. What we can say, with considerably more confidence than we can identify a date or a name, is what kind of place the origin required. Multiple independent lines of reasoning converge on a single type of environment: a site of mass human death.

Method, compressed

Building backwards from myth

Channel 01

Treat folklore as a dataset

Individual reports are noisy and culturally inflected. Aggregated across sufficient geographic and temporal diversity, genuine biological signal emerges from the cultural variation. The method was developed in the epidemiological reading of historical disease records. Its application here is to treat the vampire, werewolf, hunter, and dwarf traditions as distributed observational databases.

Channel 02

Build backwards from the constraint

Start from the folkloric invariant that imagination cannot explain — silver, not iron; the full moon, not any bright night; the bite that is never enough — and ask what mechanism would produce exactly that observation. No physical law is invented. The novelty is the assembly.

Channel 03

Four-channel corroboration

Metagenomics, medical-demographic pattern analysis, partial specimen recovery, and computational reconstruction. No single channel would have been sufficient. The compilers did not design the convergence. They discovered it.

Channel 04

Falsification, not faith

Each volume enumerates specific empirical paths that would destroy the framework. Ancient-DNA primer screens. Mitochondrial-density biopsy. Seismic return profiles. The investigation remains open because the last empirical step has not been taken, not because the argument is a mood.

Biological apparatus

83 named mechanisms. Graphic reconstruction.

Every organ the folklore half-remembered, named at tissue level — and the kit the hunters actually carried. The fifteen-centimetre sublingual proboscis. The hydraulic engine. The kindjal with silver in the blood-channel, not on the flat. The full desk is filterable by volume and by system.
