The beast can smell your fear.
A nerve route ordinary development discards is kept open, delivering fear chemistry straight to the amygdala.

The — vestigial in baseline humans — reactivated. Fear has a volatile signature. The beast is reading it. The plate is a duct, not a gift.
Adult humans have a vomeronasal organ. A pit in the nasal septum. Vestigial: the accessory-olfactory path to the amygdala is absent in nearly every baseline adult. does not rebuild it during the shift. It wires it earlier. LERV-NT, a neurotrophin-like axon-guidance molecule, is expressed in fetal and early postnatal windows and leaves a route that ordinary development discards. At shift, pheromonal, territorial, stress, and identity chemistry arrives directly in threat-detection and motivational centres. No cortical label. No word for it.
They do not smell fear the way one smells coffee. They respond to fear. The folklore wrote the observation in the only vocabulary it had. The fourfold olfactory expansion of Chapter 7.1 is a wider chemical spectrum. This is a different channel. Limbic, not piriform. The most theoretically rich of the sensory claims, and the one no shifted individual can report in language, because language is off.
