They knit as you watch. Invulnerable.

Wounds close fast during the shift, unless it is silver, which disables the very machinery repair depends on.

Healing factor and its limits

Metabolism · Periphery, not brain

Plate · LCAN · Healing factor and its limits · theoretical reconstruction

A penetrating wound taken during the shift, closing because the same mitochondrial surplus that powers the engine powers repair. Periphery, not brain. It will not knit under silver: those are the organelles the metal occupies.

Penetrating wounds taken during the shift close faster than baseline because the same mitochondrial surplus and growth-factor cascade that power the engine power repair. This is not magic regeneration. It is a temporary anabolic state with a bill. What it cannot do is repair under silver: inhibition is the exact lesion of the organelles the repair requires. The healing factor is most impaired at the moment it is most needed.

Neurological tissue does not share the privilege. The brain, despite its metabolic rank in the shifted state, is not a knitting organ. Lost prefrontal hours do not grow back as extra neurons. The folklore of invulnerability stops at the dura.
